Nathan Hostert
Candidate for Student Body President
​
Nathan currently serves as SGA’s Vice President for Student Affairs and chairs the Student Affairs Committee—a group of 20+ students who work on projects to improve student life. Nathan is a Political Science student with a minor in Law and Public Policy, and he is from Wichita, Kansas. Nathan’s hobbies include playing tennis, finding cool parks, hanging out with his dogs, and rewatching 30 Rock.
Some of the things Nathan has done:

Collaborated with 20+ student groups to host Northeastern’s first annual block pARTy​, a day of art showcases, performances, and dance workshops in Curry

Led the revision process of the Code of Student Conduct to make the Code more fair and transparent

Launched SGA’s Diversity & Inclusion Subcommittee to collaborate with student groups on projects to improve inclusion at Northeastern
-
Worked with O.P.E.N. and the Student Affairs Committee to institutionalize and expand Husky to Husky, Northeastern’s peer mental health education program

Collaborated with RSA, CUP and the Homecoming Committee to plan and put on Homecoming Week
-
Working with student programmers to create a new universal student event calendar

Partnering with community members and administrators to add more community-centric programming into Orientation and Welcome Week
-
Worked with community members to craft a community asset map​—a community engagement project to highlight local businesses in the neighborhoods surrounding campus
-
Partnering with the MBTA and the administration to explore options for better transportation discounts and get “Welcome to Boston” packages for all incoming students next fall


Dylan Balcom
Candidate for Student Body Executive Vice President
Dylan currently serves as SGA’s Assistant Vice President for Student Services and is Chairman of the Renewable Energy Initiatives Board, an eight member board in charge of leading clean energy initiatives with the Renewable Energy Fund. Dylan is a Behavioral Neuroscience student with a minor in Global Health. He is from Charlestown, New Hampshire and has passions for hiking, cooking, kayaking, and traveling.

Some of the things Dylan has done:

Eliminated styrofoam from all on campus vendors

Worked with ResLife to get a recycling bin in every on campus apartment starting Fall 2018

Created ‘Cold Turkey’ campaign to reduce energy consumption in residence halls over Thanksgiving break

Increased access to recycling bins in the library

Worked with dining to expand vegetarian, vegan, and international foods

Advocated for housing reform to make apartment options more inclusive and fair

Worked on trayless dining with RSA/SGA

Currently working with the University to reaffirm their commitment to protecting greenery on campus

Currently leading the Campus Safety Dialogue- a monthly public forum with NUPD on the topic of student/campus safety

Currently working with the Business Office to reduce energy consumption through on campus washing machines
